The field in the foreground is part of Lorton Park which is privately owned and farms herdwick sheep. The white house in the centre of the picture is the old police house. To the right of this is Low Fell. This can provide a delightful afternoon stroll, starting in the village of Thackthwaite. To the left of the house are the twin mounds of Melbreak which looms above Crummock Water, its steep sides coming right down to the waters edge.
