Fleetwith and Grassmoor are half of a block of four cottages, built alongside a courtyard. They are built 'upside down' - the bedrooms being downstairs with the lounge upstairs to make the most of the views over the fells. They sleep four and are electrically centrally heated for all year round use.
The building opposite the entrances houses a 'utility room' with washing machine, tumble dryer and a freezer. This is also an ideal area for muddy boots or bikes.
Upstairs, the 'L' shaped lounge offers comfortable seating for four. A TV and video are provided complete with a selection of films for both adults (no, not that adult!) and children. There are two storage heaters as well as an electric fire should the weather turn unexpectedly cold.
The dining area is formed from the 'L' shape of the lounge. There is a table with light over, and four chairs. If you are bringing a very young visitor, we can supply a high chair if required (no charge) just let us know when you book. From the window there is a splendid view over Kirk Fell.
Also upstairs is the kitchen. It's quite small, but deliberately so. After a hard day out on the fells, who wants to walk another two miles getting the meal ready? But seriously, there is plenty of crockery, cutlery and glassware for four as well as a good range of cooking utensils and pans etc. There is a fridge with small freezer compartment and a microwave as well as the normal toaster and kettle. The kitchens were refurbished at Easter in 2002 with new ovens and hobs, and now include dishwashers.
Downstairs are the two bedrooms and the bathroom. Each bedroom (there is one double and one twin) has a fitted wardrobe with plenty of hanging space, chests of drawers and bedside lamps. All beds have duvets rather than sheets. If you are bringing a very young visitor with you we can supply a cot on request. We do not make a charge for this, but we do ask that you bring your own bedding for it.
How exciting can I make a bathroom sound? We have yet to install a Jacuzzi and the loo seat is unheated, but there is a shower over the bath!
